Changelog
What’s new in Value Studies Coach, newest first. Last updated 16 September 2026.
Untimed practice and session replay
Latest- New “Untimed” option alongside 15, 30, 45 and 60 minutes. There is no countdown — a stopwatch counts up so you can still see how long a study took, and you move on when you are ready.
- The end-of-session gallery is now interactive: click any image you studied to practise it again, untimed, with the full breakdown, tone and grid controls.
- A “Back to gallery” button returns you to your finished session from an untimed study, and the gallery stays reachable from the settings screen until you start a new session.
- Added this changelog so it is clear what has changed and when.
Proportion grid
- A grid overlay you can toggle over both the reference and the breakdown, to help you place the big shapes accurately.
Pinterest boards
- Connect your Pinterest account and practise from your own public boards — no password, no account needed here.
- Pins keep a link back to their source on Pinterest in the study view and the gallery.
Two-tone studies
- Added a 2-tone option next to 3, 5 and 7 — the most extreme simplification, pure light against pure shadow.
Privacy policy
- Published a privacy policy covering what the site stores and how the optional Pinterest integration works.
Isolate values and tune the breakdown
- Click an object in the breakdown to focus its hue family, and isolate a single tone to see exactly where that value falls across the image.
- Breakdown adjustments for blur, contrast, saturation and edge sharpness, so you can tune how much the reference is simplified.
Image attribution
- Reference images now carry artist and licence credits in the study view and the end-of-session gallery.
First release
- Timed, posterized value study sessions: pick a category, a time per painting and a number of paintings.
- Switch between 3, 5 and 7 tones, and between colour and greyscale.
- Practise with your own uploaded images.
